Note Printing Australia produced it's first Polymer plastic note for the Australian Bicentenary in 1988. The first issues did not have sufficient bonding and the Captain Cook OVD was easily removed. The technique was modified with additional layers of bonding which held the printing. All Australian notes are now produced in polymer.

Note Printing Australia have also produced Commemorative and Regular polymer notes for Brunei, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and now New Zealand.

Five Dollar issued 1992 with the Fraser/Cole signature combination.

In 1993 the year was added after the Serial Prefix. Size 65mm X 131mm.

Five Dollar issued 1995 with the Fraser/Evans signature combination.
In 1995 there was a new colour and sorting bars were added to the design.

The sorting bars in 1995 had 2 density of patterns.
